Ultra-Fast Injection

Ultra-Fast Injection is a machine-driven process that requires both specific resins and specific mold design to permit injection times as fast as 0.1 seconds.

Part weight savings of 10-20% are achievable. Effective light-weighting using ultra-fast injection requires absolute hot runner balance and cavity-to-cavity consistency. StackTeck’s expertise in mold and hot runner flow analysis is essential to a successful ultra-fast injection project.


To achieve the light-weighting benefit, Ultra-fast injection creates conditions where resin temperature increases as it flows into the cavity at high speed and pressure.  Heat is created by the shear which has a side benefit of reducing the resin’s viscosity so it flows easier in the very thin plastic walls.  Easier to fill means an opportunity to lightweight.

Reduced fill time results in:

  • Higher shear heating
  • Higher resin temperature and reduced viscosity in cavity
  • Overall easier filling process
